Ouachita Baptist University gave me an incredible education and wonderful social network in which to grow. Intellectually and academically, I was challenged to consider other view points even though my professors themselves were Christian. The university understood that being Christian in orientation does not mean that the university should shelter students from other religions, philosophies, or so called "secular" methods. Instead, I was encouraged to explore, think, and question everything. It was a very positive and intellectually stimulating environment.

By contrast, when I studied at a top 100 university for my master's degree, many of my classmates there (who had attended famous schools like Oxford, Yale, University of Paris, etc.) simply did not have basic knowledge of history or philosophy which at Ouachita was a part of the core curriculum. I was astounded at how better prepared I was for graduate school than my classmates who had gone to famous name brand schools.

Class sizes are small. Teachers will engage you for hours in the hallways debating and discussing any subject. Many teachers live nearby which facilitates even more educational opportunities for the ambitious student who seeks them.

I strongly recommend an education at Ouachita Baptist University. If you are a Christian, your faith will be challenged and deepened. If you are not a Christian, then your worldviews will also be pushed and prodded.

Hopefully, I will continue to always strive towards knowledge and truth like Ouachita taught me to do.

My daughter attends OBU, as a sophomore. She is an athletic trainer for the OBU Tigers. I am so very proud of her accomplishments. My best friend and I attended the rivalry game, OBU vs Henderson State University. She is a Henderson State University alumni; so you know we enjoyed the game. OBU came out the gate running the scoreboard. The halftime show was good. Both bands performed with their flag team. This reminded me of my high school band days. In the second half, Henderson State attempted to stand their ground and was able to tie the scoreboard in the 4th quarter with an awesome play; I was on the sideline. I was able to see all the action. I wished I had my camara out to catch that awesome play by Henderson. (Great play for touchdown Henderson Reddies!) however, there was too much time left on the clock. OBU tigers completed a 54 yard punt kick to conquer Henderson State Reddies with a 31 - 28 final score. GO TIGERS! We enjoyed our visit and the game. My son played sideline football with the other children he had never met. That was awesome. It was as if we already knew everyone. OBU gives me this familiar sense of love and family. I loved to see the families altogether. Fathers, Mothers, and Grandparents with their young children. There were plenty of food choices, even Chic-Fil-A, my favorite and charbroiled burgers, ummm. There were booths to purchase OBU accessories and apparel. Parking was not as hectic as I imagined. My Henderson State alumni friend was able to lead us to a parking space that was easy to get in and out after the game traffic. The weather was beautiful, sunny, yet windy. We had an awesome time and a great outting. I can't wait to attend next year if it is God's will.

I’m a 1987 graduate of OBU. I got a fine Education there but I was very disappointed last year when OBU allowed a professor to publish an Op-Ed, using OBU in his byline, supporting an accused child molester for U.S. Senate. In the Op-Ed, the professor said “even if true” the candidate molested children, he should be in the U.S. Senate. OBU “disavowed” the Op-Ed, but the Professor suffered no consequences and continues teaching there.
