Worst company/school I've ever dealt with. They only accept until grades and not a public school diploma. The fact that they are funded through our taxes is a crime. Staff is rude and will take a month to get back to you. Please do not waste your time or money. I promise you they do not care about your child. They are a money making scheme and a waste of taxpayers dollars.

Terrible, Took multiple months to process the completion of my course and then near refuse to send me my transcript. On top of that when calling the TVO ILC help number, they kept telling me to phone back in a week if I don't receive an update, this went on for near 2 months and still ongoing with no update at all. Do NOT start a TVO ILC course if you have any expectation of getting a form of transcript in a year.

Beyond awful I’ve been waiting for my son to get approved for courses for a year. He’s failed grade 9 now and TVO never calls back, or answers emails . It always says ‘pending’ this is a horrible scam and unfair to the kids. They should be investigated.

Really bad communication. Takes two weeks to respond to a single question and to return homework. Be careful of the course deadline because they immediately drop your course without notice. As for me, I had already completed all the assignments and missed the deadline and had the entire course dropped because they couldn’t get back to me about the test scheduling which took almost 2 weeks. Also, I have had so many astounding mark deductions for “mistakes” I made that were completely not mentioned in the course material! If you appeal, you will most likely have to wait 2 weeks for nothing because they won’t do anything in your favour. I will never recommend this learning platform to anyone. You get what you pay.

Our entire experience so far has been negative.
1. We applied at the beginning November. Didn’t hear anything until January. Although it asks to provide translated transcripts we were told that they don’t have guidance staff to assess transfer credits from international school. Advised to use an accrediting service. Paid over $200 to have grade 10 international transcripts assessed by WES. Even after submitting the verification of completion, we were told that they can’t transfer credits until the student complete one full course at TVO-ILC. I explained that in order to enroll in Grade 11 credits the pre-requisites need to be credited. I had to wait 3 months to speak with a guidance counselor and administrator.
2. Communication is horrible. It takes weeks to receive an email response. If you call, the CSR just takes your info to pass along to someone to call or email you back. You cannot communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, or guidance staff. In the case of academic help, we have been waiting for 2 weeks to speak with a teacher for help on a culminating task.
3. The courses are basic. Not much effort has been put into these course to offer students with differentiated lessons or assessments. Students are not offered choices for final products to align with best practices for DI. There is little opportunity for students to demonstrate learning through any other formats than essays and written responses, so if you have a learner that enjoys expressing themselves in slideshows or other artistic formats, this is not it. The content and lessons are basic and seem to be pulled from textbooks rather than developed by teachers.
4. Course offerings are limited. Not one tech or computer science course offering. If the Ministry wants to prepare students for future careers, there have weirdly forgotten to include computer science and tech courses.
5. Doesn’t provide equitable or inclusive learning space. Navigating this system is challenging and alienates families who do not have the time, money, or knowledge of the school system. Sadly, this will limit a lot of students in Ontario from accessing online school.
Not sure how they meet OUAC deadlines.

The Ministry of Education and TVO-ILC have really missed the mark with their course offerings and overall high school program development. It’s a shame because so much more should be done to offer an online pathway for OSSD. They need to hire teachers for curriculum and assessment writing, as well as have experienced and responsive guidance counselors and admin to provide leadership.

Currently completing a physics course and the material has SO MANY errors! Who approved of this? I've sent messages about course content through "request academic help" weeks ago with no response. I also emailed the alternative contact option for help months ago with no response. How do I know what to study if I cant determine what answers are even correct? So many flaws it's simply unreliable. If there weren't so many errors (very unprofessional) and such poor communication, I would say the course is decent, unfortunately those 2 things make up the whole course and it's simply a mess.

They have zero respect for your time. I've been waiting almost 5 months for my application to be approved with little to no update as to why it's taking so long. They keep telling me my application looks fine, and to keep checking back. Who has time for that? Getting a manager to speak to you directly is next to impossible.
